Renaissance Choral Music

Ancient music sung with a new spirit

Director:  Martyn Warren

Voces is 30 years old!  Our first performance was at Buckfast Abbey on Sunday 30 August 1987, when we sang Byrd's Mass in Three Parts and his Ave Verum Corpus during the conventual Mass.  From that small group of seven men has grown a mixed choir which has involved 180-plus people over the years, though it is rare for more than 28 singers to take part in any one performance, and often considerably fewer.

See 'Forthcoming Concerts' and 'Forthcoming Services' in the side menu for information about celebratory performances coming up.

The Director of Voces, and several of his singers, are proud to be members of the professional Buckfast Abbey Choir.  The choir sings at the Abbey most Sundays for the Conventual Mass (10.30am) and gives three concerts a year in the Abbey, as well as sundry other activities.  Details can be found at http://www.buckfast.org.uk/music-221-abbeychoir.html

'Aerial' photos taken by the Abbot of Buckfast during our concert on 17 November 2012.  A bigger group than usual as it was a celebration of our 25th anniversary, including some past as well as present members of the choir:  http://www.buckfast.org.uk/site.php?use=gallery&galleryID=43
